Book Review: A Christmas Prayer by Amy Parker

This is a wonderful book for children to read or listen to hear the Nativity story! It is being told from a child's point of view as she is sitting by her Christmas tree thinking about how blessed she is with a loving family and all that she has. Her Christmas prayer is not for toys, but a thanks for the Christmas gift of Jesus that has been given to everyone. The pages take you through each of the main characters and animals of the Nativity story: Gabriel, Mary, Joseph, the donkey, the manger, the shepherds, the bright star, and Jesus. Each page is a "Thank you" to God for these things and it tells the importance of each one to the meaning of the story. The illustrations are very cute as the child role plays each character with her own dolls, toys, and stuffed animals. She gathers them together in her living room by the Christmas tree with her father, mother, and baby sister watching.

My two-year old son loves having me read this book over and over to him and talk about what the child is doing in each page of the story! It is a great board book for any child ages 1-7. This would be a wonderful gift if you know someone that has a small child. I know that we will read it over and over for many years to come!

Thomas Nelson and BookSneeze provided this complimentary book to me to read and review. All opinions of this book are my own. I hope that you enjoy it, too!
